Marien Dom Linz

The iconic longest church in Austria with a spire soars of 135 meters high.  The Roman Catholic church is famous for its stained glass windows which showcase the history of the city.  

How to Reach Marien Dom from Linz Hbf

  • Trolley bus 46 with destination linz/donau Hafen, in 2 minuts will arrive in Linz/Donau Volksgartenstraße.
  • Tram 01 with destination Linz/donau JKU Universität, in 5 minuts will arrive at Mozartkreuzung.
  • With your own car? Ask mr.Google !!!!

Approximately 45 minutes.

Hauptplatz, Linz

One of the largest and most breathtaking public spaces in Austria.  The history runs back to 1230 and has been used as the major marketplace in the city. Many buildings facing Hauptplatz have narrow front and long bodies. Famously this squire was named after Adolf Hitler due to his famous speech on the ‘’ Greater German Reich’’

People could enjoy an ice cream or a bubble tee where there are excellent shops nearby. If you visit Linz during Christmas, this is one of the places where they have a Christmas market.

How to Reach Hauptplatz from Marian Dom (Mozartkreuzng)

  • Tram 02 with destination Linz/donau JKU Universität, in 3 minuts will arrive at Linz/Donau Hauptplatz.
  • On foot through Landestraße in 10 minuts.

Approximately 30 minutes.

Postlingbergbahn, Linz

This mountain tram line is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city.  Firstly established in the 19th century connecting hauptplatz and the Postlingberg mountain. on top of the mountain is one of the picturesque sceneries in the city.

  • Tram ride is about 20 minutes long.
  • You have to have a separate ticket for the ride and an up and down ticket is 7 € per adult. Could buy the tickets from the booth next to the tram stop in Hauptplatz.

How to Reach Postlingbergbahn from Hauptplatz

  • There is a separate Tram stop in the Hauptplatz. Catch the train from Hauptplatz.

Schlossmuseum, Linz,

Once home to empire Friedrich III, is now one of the most important museums in Austria with vast collection of articles representing Austrian technological History, Austrian Music, Art and culture including great collection of potraits , Archaeological items and Weaponry etc.  

  • Do not miss the restaurant on the museum terrace which offers the best view of the city and the river.

Lentos Kunstmuseum, Linz

Regarded as one of the most important collections of modern art in Austria. The 130 meters long building is an attraction itself with a picturesque view of the river Danube.

Linzer Landhaus, Linz

The building is today the seat of the Upper Austrian Provincial Government. Build-in the 16th century. It was a school earlier where Johannes Kepler worked as a teacher for 14 years.  A recent excavation reviled an important medieval and Baroque era findings.

  • If anyone is interested in visiting Landhaus, need to arrange the tour in advance by calling the Landhaus or Linz Tourismus.

How to Reach Linzer Landhaus from Lentos Kunstmuseum

  • Back to Hauptplatz and through Klosterstraße ( takes just 8 minutes on foot.

Approximately 1 hour.

Alter Dom

Dedicated to Ignatius or to Jesuit .  The Church was build between 1683 and 1689. And the church is really famous for its musical history.

How to Reach Alter Dom from Linzer Landhaus.

  • 3 minutes away from the Landhaus on foot.

Landesgalerie, Linz

This beautiful building is the place to most of the contemporary and modern art in Upper Austria. The aim of the Museum is to integrate 20th and 21st Century art.

Plus City

The favorite shopping mall of Linzer people. This offers cinema, clothes, restaurants, books, perfume, etc. especially as a foreign student if you miss KFC, this is the place for you. Many Salzburg students make day trips to Linz just to have KFC.

  • Tram 4 with destination Traum ÖO Schloss, after 16 minutes altogether will arrive in Plus City.

One of the famous meeting places for the nightlife lovers in the city. The café offers one of the best views of the river.
