What to do on a Rainy day? – AYA Bad

Its cold outside, rainy is pouring down, people are passing by with grim faces. Time to cheer up and do something! So, shave your legs and pack you bag – it’s time to go for a swim! Can you think of any other sport which fits the element better? Besides doing something good for your body – it strengthens arms, legs, chest, abdominals and neck – it is also fun to just splash around in the wet.

My personal favourite is the AYA Bad, because its easy to reach and the prices are more than fair for students. One time entry costs 2,80 €, whereas 10 entries cost 21,- €.

Where is it?

You’ll find the AYA Bad in Alpenstraße 9, unfortunately there aren’t so many alternatives in Salzburg.

How to get there?

In case you decide to walk or take the bike, don’t worry about forgetting your umbrella – you’ll get wet anyway. The warmer and drier alternative is to take the bus (lines 3, 8 and 28). If your coming from further away, you can also take the train to Salzburg Aigen and then walk 15 minutes there.

Why is this spot perfect for rainy days?

While the most popular option on a rainy day is to stay at home and watch Netflix, this is not only healthy and fun, it also fits the element. It’s also a great place to meet new people and a good excuse to eat something unhealthy afterwards.

What else can you do there?

In summertime the outdoor pool is a great place to continue your training or to enjoy a sunbath. While you’re in the area, make sure to check out the botanical garden which is just a seven minute walk away from the pool.

What to bring?

Goggles, towel, money (plus students ID for discount), friends, and most importantly: your swimsuit!
