How to keep in touch with your friends during quarantine and escape the #coronaboredom

“Life imposes things on you that you can’t control, but you still have the choice of how you’re going to live through this.” – Celine Dion

Quarantine doesn’t have to be boring and lonely. Everyone of us has the chance how to deal with a tough situation and make the best out of it. As for most of us, social distancing was and is quite challenging for me and my friends, but we managed to keep in touch and came up with some ideas to make quarantine life a little bit nicer for all of us.

From beginning on we had video chats everyday. We celebrated my birthday, played games, made online parties or concerts, danced or had dinner together and tried to spend time together everyday.

After a while, we brainstormed what else we can do to keep us busy and we came up with the idea of hiding presents in our gardens. We were all enthusiastic about it and started to create handcrafted things or bought presents. Most of us hided their presents in the middle of the night, which made it even more exciting and fun. On the one hand this was a way to keep ourselves busy, on the other hand it was nice to brighten up someone’s day with small, thoughtful surprises.

Below you can see one present that I got around easter (yes, I got some washing-up liquid, toilet paper of course and sunscreen for children:D).

Because it was so much fun to surprise my friends, I decided to extend this idea a little bit and started to send postcards and small presents to some of my friends that live in other countries. Since it was totally unexpected for all of them, I got really nice and thoughtful responses back, which made me really happy.

I think even if these are small things, showing your friends that you care and think about them during these hard times can really change someone’s day and mood.
