Navigation issues – where to go skiing in Flachau?
Flachau belongs to the Ski Amadé ski region and specifically to the Snow Space Salzburg, which includes the areas of Flachau, St. Johann – Alpendorf and Wagrain. How can you reach your ski area? This question is easy to answer because Snow Space is only 50 minutes away from the city of Salzburg and can be reached by bus, train and car. Snow Space provides shuttles to the cable cars and the ski area can be started from seven different starting points. From the Pongau and Flachau motorway exits, the main roads lead directly to the ski area on the mountain, so you are instantly ready to shred down the slopes!
When can you shred the slopes in Snow Space/Ski Amadé and how many slopes are provided?
The ultimate ski experience can be enjoyed from the beginning of December until mid of April depending on the snow situation. The related cable cars and lifts run daily from 08:30 am until 16:00 pm, which allows you to have a well-deserved break in the mountain huts as well! Regarding slopes, you do not have to worry to run out of meters of piste. In total the ski region provides 68 slopes with 45 lifts that bring you up the mountain, and for people who prefer ski touring: two piste tours are provided, but of course, you can choose your own off-piste tour as well!
Why is Flachau special?
On the one hand, Flachau is the hometown of the famous ski racer Hermann Maier, and on the other hand, the Audi FIS Women’s Ski World Cup takes place here once a year, which is not to be missed as it is combined with a big party and get-together! The ski resort has also been named the best ski resort in the world several times – there must be something to it!
Ski schools and ski rental in Flachau:
Wide and clear slopes, children’s areas located directly at the valley station as well as on the mountain, ski kindergartens for children from the age of three, and lunchtime childcare? Flachau provides all of this and much more. The ski & snowboard schools of the World Cup resort have a varied offer that perfectly complements the diversity of the Snow Space Salzburg ski area. Whether group courses or private lessons, ski courses for beginners or advanced skiers, snowboard courses or special courses – you are guaranteed to find the right ski course for your skills during your Salzburg winter holiday!
Five of the ski schools are called: Fischi`s Qualitätsskischule, Fun & Pro ski and snowboard school, ski school Flachau and ski school Hermann Maier and ski school Sport am Jet – with all of them we guarantee to be in good hands and to be able to rock the slopes!
What would be skiing without professional gear? Right, nothing! Therefore, Flachau alone already provides ten different ski rental shops, which are located directly at the valley stations of the cable cars or split up in the valley itself.
